Jagadeesh Vasudev :
Jagadeesh Vasudev was born on 3rd September 1957 in Mysore, Karnataka in a Telugu speaking family. His father, who was an ophthalmologist with the Indian railways which led to regular transfers and movement of the family. At the age of 10, Malladihalli Sri Raghavendra Swamiji taught him simple yogasanas which he practiced consistently.
He graduated with a bachelor`s degree in English. After that, he started a business and when his business reached peaks, he visited Chamundi hills on the suggestion of his friends, where he sat on a rock and suddenly experienced some trance. Six weeks after this experience, he left the business and started traveling and meditating excessively. After a year, he decided to teach yoga.
In 1993,he founded Isha yoga centre,near coimbattore,which is a non-profit,non-religious,non-government organization,run by volunteers.
He has been conducting yoga programs and inner engineering courses all over the world including the USA on a large scale. Every year, Sadhguru conducts overnight programs on the occasion of Maha Shivratri in the ashram premises. In 2010, this event was attended by about 80,000 people. The events include music, dance, guided meditation, prayers etc.,
The 112-foot adi yogi statue was established in Isha yoga center in 2017, on the occasion of Mahashivratri on 24th February.
Sadhguru started programs like the rally for the rivers, youth and truth to empower youth and create an ideal environment for future generations to grow happily.
He was voted among the 100 most influential Indians and had a privilege to speak in world economic forums in 2006,2007,2008 and 2009. Also, he spoke at the united nations millennium world peace summit in 2000.
The government of India recognized his efforts and awarded Padma vibhushan in 2017.
In this way, a normal person changed from being a typical teenager to transforming the lives of many young people and also inspiring many others worldwide to go back to the ancient way of living and avoid creating problems to the environment and being a victim to its dangerous consequences in turn.
