Cricketers Hailing From Telugu States

Hyderabad, the sports capital of India, has produced some of the finest players in various sports, also gave some valuable cricketers to the Indian cricket team such as

  1. CK NAYUDU:

Cottari Kanakayya Nayudu, also known as CK, was the first captain of Indian test cricket team. He played until the age of 68. He was also the colonel of Holkar army. He belongs to Telugu family but was born in Nagpur.

2. MOHAMMED AZHARUDDIN:

This elegant middle-order batsman captained Indian cricket team in 47 tests in the ’90s. After retirement from cricket, he started his career as a politician by joining Indian national congress.

 

3. VVS Laxman :

This stylish Hyderabadi batsman, fondly referred to as `very very special` is known for his classic style of batting. The innings of 281, he played against Australia, is one of the best in cricket history, which saved India from a deadly defeat. He recently released his autobiography named 281 and above.

4. MOHAMMED SIRAJ:

This rags to riches story of Siraj is very inspiring. Siraj, son of an auto driver, saw a sudden change of fate when he was bought for 2.6 crores in IPL auction. After that, he was also selected for the Indian team.

5. HANUMA VIHARI:

Hanuma, born in Kakinada, is a right-hand batsman. He was the member of the team that won the U-19 world cup in 2012 in Australia. In the 6th edition of IPL, he played for sunrisers Hyderabad and currently is playing for Indian national side.

Apart from these, there is also a good number of cricketers from Telugu states including MSK Prasad, Venkatapathy Raju, Shivlal Yadav etc., who made the country proud with their amazing performances.
